Blackheath & Bromley Harriers athlete Alex Pope wins Kent decathlon title

The 2011 track and field season concluded with the Kent combined events championships at Erith over the weekend.

Alex Pope of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers is the new senior men’s decathlon champion with 6,440 points.

Alex Wharfe (5,033) and Dan Alexander (5,013) of Medway and Maidstone AC were closely matched for silver and bronze medals in the under-20 men’s decathlon.

George Vaughan (3,939) of M&M collected silver for his club in the under-17 men’s octathlon. George Clements (2,083) was a bronze medallist for M&M in the under-15 boy’s pentathlon.

Natalie Fullman (3,665) also took bronze in the senior women’s heptathlon but the star performer for M&M was Joanne Ware, who won the under-15 girls’ pentathlon with 2,597 points.
