Hundreds of Kent jobs are at risk after Blockbuster announced it is to go into administration for the second time in a year.

The DVD and video games chain was rescued in March when restructuring business Gordon Brothers Europe bought 264 stores, including five in the county.

The sale for an undisclosed sum saved 2,000 jobs nationally and kept sites running in Gravesend, Dover, Chatham, Folkestone and Margate.

Yet it announced today it is to fall into administration again after suffering from poor trading.

All stores are to remain open as normal while the firm seeks a buyer.

When Blockbuster originally collapsed in January it had 528 stores nationally and a workforce of 4,190 staff.

Previous outlets in Ashford, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, Rainham and Tonbridge were not included in the sale to Gordon Brothers Europe.
