A teenager has been bailed by police investigating a serious dog attack on a schoolboy.

The 15-year-old boy, from Gillingham, was arrested in Gillingham town centre on Friday afternoon on suspicion of failing to control a dog in a public place following an incident at the Garrison Sports Ground, Gillingham.

A dog bit 13-year-old victim Liam Monks on the leg while he was playing football at the Garrison Sports Ground. Five men eventually dragged the dog away from him then ran off with the animal.

Liam underwent plastic surgery on his severely injured leg at East Grinstead Hospital.
