KENT police have issued a warning to motorists and are appealing for information following an incident in which a rock was thrown at a Land Rover.

The incident happened as the vehicle was travelling along the A2 towards Strood in the Three Crutches area.

Neither the driver, a 40-year-old woman from Gravesend, nor her nine-year-old son, were injured. Police say damage estimted at about £250 was caused to the black Land Rover.

Police are keen to speak with a number of boys seen in the area at the time of the incident. One of them is described as being white, aged between 11 and 12, about 4ft 8in tall and of large build. He had short, dark brown hair and was wearing a black T-Shirt with ‘LFP’ on the front.

The incident occurred at about 7.45pm on Friday, April 27. Roger Golding, who is investigating the crime, said: "This was an extremely dangerous act and it is fortunate that no one was seriously hurt.

"I would like to ask those who feel that vandalism is fun to consider the implications that having a criminal record will have on their future.

"This kind of behaviour is simply unacceptable and our patrols will take action against those who commit these mindless acts."
