She weighs almost a tonne, is a towering nine feet tall and required a crane and a very steady hand to hoist her into position.
The enormous shell lady became the latest addition to Margate's Harbour Arm on Thursday, see our video on the right.
The giant sculpture, created by Margate-based artist Ann Carrington, is made entirely of bronze and will be illuminated at night.
The European Regional Development Fund shelled out more than £50,000 for the statue and an entourage of similar sculptures which were laid out around Margate over the summer.
Claire Tarelli, project officer for the Margate Renewal Partnership, said: "The shell ladies have become a familiar attrraction in the town and this latest sculpture will be a welcoming sight for both visitors and residents."
