The premises raided by police

THREE women were arrested when police raided and closed down a brothel in a quiet suburb.

Six police officers swooped on Rachel's, at number 63, Croydon Road, Elmers End, near Beckenham.

The theee women arrested included the 35-year-old manageress of the brothel and a 29-year-old prostitute.

The operation followed an investigation by the Bromley Extra newspaper, part of the KM Group, into complaints by people living in a neighbouring street, Langley Road, about customers of the brothel entering and leaving through a back door in their street.

Sgt Derek Brook, who led the raid, said: "We have closed it down and we don't anticipate that it is going to reopen. One female was cautioned for managing a brothel and informed that police would be carrying out spot checks on the premises from now on."

"If there are any further reports, or there is any further evidence that the premises are still being used for prostitution, then further action will be taken."

The 35-year-old, who had no previous record, will only face charges if she is caught re-offending.

Officers seized property involved in the running of a brothel, including sex aids and costumes.
