KENT Police have seized thousands of pounds worth of cannabis plants and executed two drugs warrants in two separate parts of the county.

Officers also arrested four people on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and one person for illegal entry.

The action forms part of ongoing action by the county's police to crack down on rented properties being used for the cultivation of cannabis.

Police executed the first warrant at 11am on Thursday at a house in Charing, near Ashford. They seized 400 plants and arrested two men aged 20 and 21-years-old on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of illegal entry to the UK.

Later, at around 5.30pm, the team closed a cannabis house in Newcommon Road, Sheerness, where they found 200 plants and arrested a 26-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man.

Det Sgt Gary Scarfe who co-ordinated the initiative, said: "This is the fourth warrant of its kind in recent weeks on the Isle of Sheppey.

"These actions reinforce our message that we will relentlessly pursue those who we believe are involved in the cultivation of cannabis.

"The estimated value of the drugs is thought to be in the region of £100,000 so we feel that this action will have had a significant impact on the supply of the drug.

"If landlords or letting agents have any concerns that their property is being used for the cultivation of drugs I would urge them to get in contact with me so we can work together to close these cannabis factories down."
