Traffic was brought to a standstill on a rural road after an accident.

The female driver of a white car crashed into a telegraph pole on the Lenham Road at 6.39pm last night at Headcorn.

Police shut the road shortly after 7pm while the telegraph pole, which was leaning over the road, was made safe.

The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution but suffered no serious injury.

The road is the same one in which four people died in a single accident back in October 2021.

Johnny Cash, Johnboy Cash, Miles Cash and Jacko Cosgrove were all killed when the Toyota Hi Lux in which they were travelling hit a tree.

A fifth member of the family, 15-year-old Jerry Cash, spent three weeks in a coma, but survived.

At the time, Kent Police launched "Operation Mandalay” - a campaign specifically to focus on driving around Headcorn, looking particularly at Lenham Road.
