CHILDREN are again risking their lives by playing near railway lines in Thanet. A member of the public contacted police when a group of children were seen playing under the railway bridge at Northdown Hill, Broadstairs. Officers attended and took the details of several children.

Twenty minutes later, two boys aged around 10 were seen climbing onto the embankment near Railway Terrace in Margate, next to the line. When the police arrived they had gone.

A police spokeswoman said: ”We understand parents can’t watch their children all the time, and kids are always looking for somewhere new and exciting to play. “We are asking parents to please explain the dangers of playing near railway lines. These children must be made aware of the risks they are taking by playing in such a dangerous place.”
