A train firm has "crowdbuster" trains on standby as it gears up for the scorching weather over the coming days.

Southeastern has said services to the coast are expected to be rammed from today until Sunday as people flock to Kent beaches to enjoy the sunshine.

Thermometers are set to soar to 37 degrees over the next few days and it will be the second week on the bounce a Friday scorcher is predicted.

The busiest times for people heading to the coast is generally between 10am and 2pm, and return journeys are between 5pm and 8pm.

A spokesperson for Southeastern said the company will be running longer trains, with "crowdbuster" trains on standby if they are needed.

"One-way systems and queuing arrangements may be introduced at the busiest stations, such as Margate, Whitstable and Hastings, so remember to bring a bottle of water and leave plenty of time for your journey," they said.

Families fear soaring temperatures this week could see a repeat of a huge gathering which sparked a "massive brawl" at one beach on the hottest day of the year.

The RNLI have said they rescued 24 people in a single day at one beach last week - and it could be another busy weekend for the lifeguards.
