A special edition beer named after three Island brothers will be launched at a family fun day this weekend.

Oranjeboom has produced the Three Brothers lager to raise money for The Dannyboy Trust (DBT), which was set up in memory of fallen Sheppey soldier Daniel Holkham.

The beer is named after Daniel and his brothers Matthew, 22, and Andrew, 20, from Warden Bay, who all served in 3rd Battalion the Rifles in Afghanistan.

Daniel, 19, was killed by a suicide bomber while on duty in Helmand Province last March.

Three Brothers will be launched at The Rugby Sevens Family Day today at Sheppey Rugby Club in Lower Road, Minster.

The fun day is also to raise money for the DBT which aims to support children's clubs and organisations which offer fun, sport, education and life skills to Sheppey youngsters.

There's plenty planned, including the BRFM roadshow, bouncy castle, face painting, dance shows, games, pony rides and more.

There will also be a rugby sevens tournament between pub teams and an exhibition match between Sheppey RUFC and Medway Dragons RLFC, half of which will be played to union rules and half to league rules.

Before the exhibition match kicks off, there will be a minute's silence in honour of Island rugby star Steve Croall , who died last month.

The teams will be competing for the Danny Holkham Rifleman Challenge memorial salver.

Gates open at 10am and the tournament kicks off at 11am.

Entry costs 50p and at the end of the day there will be a lucky programme draw and the winner will get an one-day pass to Diggerland.

After being launched at the fun day, the beer will be sold at a selection of Sheppey pubs and 10p from every pint sold will be donated to the DBT.

Daniel's dad Rodney said if the beer was successful, brewer Shepherd Neame could roll it out to pubs further afield.

"It's incredible," he said. "

The boys were speechless when they looked at the pump label.

"Shepherd Neame doesn't usually dedicate beers to individuals so it's quite an honour.

"I think Daniel would have thought it was quite amusing."

"We hope lager drinkers will enjoy this special edition, particularly in the knowledge they are supporting such a worthwhile charity."
