Gagandip Singh of Bexleyheath - murdered after he attempted to rape Mundill Mahil of Chatham.

A medical student faces a long sentence after a revenge attack ended in murder.

Mundill Mahil, of Chatham, suffered an attempted rape at the hands of Gagandip Singh (pictured left).

But after she confided in a suitor, an elaborate plot was hatched, which ended in two London men beating the TV executive unconscious and leaving him to die in a burning car.

Prosecutors at the Old Bailey said Gagandip Singh's killers had decided to "play God" after he tried to rape Mahil six months before he died.

Mahil lured Mr Singh down to her university house in Brighton in February last year, where he was set upon by Harvinder Shoker and Darren Peters.

The two men viciously beat Mr Singh, bundled him into the boot of a car and drove it to Blackheath, south east London, where they set it alight.

Now Shoker has been found guilty of murder by a majority verdict of 10-2 by a jury at the Old Bailey.

Peters was found guilty of manslaughter, and Mahil of causing grievous bodily harm.

Mahil, 20, of Maidstone Road, Chatham; Shoker, 20, of Charlton Park Lane, Greenwich and Peters, 20, of Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, both south east London; will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Judge Paul Worsley allowed Mahil to remain on conditional bail until Wednesday's sentencing.
