A disabled pensioner has pleaded with thieves to hand back the mobility scooter that allows him his freedom.

Eighty-one-year-old Morris Taylor, from Dial Road, Gillingham, believes the scooter was stolen last Thursday or in the early hours of Friday morning.

Mr Taylor, a retired front desk officer who worked at Rochester Police Station, suffers from arthritis in his knee and can only walk short distances unaided.

He made the discovery on Friday morning when he came to find his car, which was parked outside his house, empty of the transport.
