A goal five minutes into stoppage time denied Welling a point against Dorchester in the Blue Square Bet South.

Welling slipped to fourth following the defeat while Dorchester stay second, trailing leaders Salisbury City on goal difference.

The hosts had taken the lead late in the first half but Jake Gallagher levelled in the second but they were to be denied anything from their trip as Charlie Clough pounced deep into injury time.

Jamie Day’s (pictured) side started the afternoon in third – a place behind Dorchester – but the game didn’t have the look of a top of the table clash in what was a scrappy encounter with neither side excelling.

A mistake by keeper Sam Mott allowed Dorchester in to claim their opening goal and Ben Watson was bright enough to sniff out the chance and set up Jamie Gleeson to score.

A good response in the second half saw the Wings level on 64 minutes when Ross Lafayette’s cross was converted by Gallagher.

Chances came for Welling to win the game themselves, thanks to some good movement upfront from substitute Harry Baker, while Lafayette came close.

With a draw looking likely Dorchester pounced with Clough skipping past the defence and hitting the winner past Mott.
