Elderly man struck by car fights for life

A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital with his family by his side after he was hit by a car on Saturday.

The elderly victim, believed to be in his 80s, suffered serious head injuries in the incident, which happened in Kelsey Park Road at the junction with Manor Road, Beckenham, at 11.10am.

The man, who is from the Bromley area, was taken to the Royal London Hospital.

The vehicle involved was a blue Peugeot 307. The male driver who is in his 20s was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "The area was busy at the time with Christmas shoppers and officers are asking anyone with information to call the collision investigation unit on 020 8285 1574."
