Emphatic grasstrack win for Wilson

RETIRED national grass track sidecar champion, Rob Wilson, of Headcorn, gained an emphatic win on the muddy Collier Street track on Sunday.
On his newly built outfit, he pulled clear from the start, giving new passenger, nephew, Nicky Owen, a win on the first crew outing, as the rest floundered in the wet.
Duncan Tolhurst of Sutton Valence managed fourth.
Trevor Banks (Deal) was leading the 500 solos until he struck mud with a lap to go and Paul Cooper (York) slid past to win.
Other Kent placings were: Solos 250: 3 C.Still (Sittingbourne). 350: 1 D.Mears (Barham), 2 V.Kinchin (New Romney). 500: 2 S.Braidford (Ashford), 3 M.Sturgeon (Headcorn). Sidecars 500 LH: 2 L.Goodwin (Tonbridge). 1000: 1 S.Downing (Nonington), 2 M.Downs (Tonbridge), 3 M.O’Donnell (Sissinghurst).
