RACE fans will be able to get closer than ever to the stars of the Superbike World Championship with free entry to the paddock and an autograph session at Brands Hatch on Thursday.

Entry to the paddock is usually restricted over the course of race weekends but, before World Superbikes starting racing in Kent next weekend, access will be allowed so that fans can get up close to riders and machines that will be competing over the following days.

Two of the crowd's favourites are set to be the two Brits - reigning World Champion and works Ducati rider James Toseland and Chris Walker, who rides for Kawasaki.

Last year, a crowd of more than 60,000 cheered Toseland and Walker on at Brands Hatch and, with advanced ticket sales up on 2004, an even bigger crowd is expected this year.

But it is not just the British riders that the Brits support - Italian Pierfrancesco Chili is one of the most popular riders in the World Superbike paddock and often throws his leathers into the crowd after races at Brands, endearing him to the fans.

Australian Troy Corser heads the championship and is set to be another rider with a lot of support, as is Japanese rider Noriyuki Haga, made famous by his spectacular riding style.

The paddock will be open from 2pm until 6pm on Thursday, with free entry throughout.

Entry to Brands Hatch on Thursday is free of charge for all, while tickets for Friday's practice day cost just £10.

Entry to qualifying on Saturday is £20, with race day tickets costing £45 on the gate.

Advanced race day tickets cost £35 and are available up to and including Thursday August 4 if purchased at the circuit between 9.30am and 5.30pm.
