Firefighters tackle blazes in Ramsgate and Sandwich

Dozens of firefighters have tackled a blaze at a house in Ramsgate.

The fire broke out early yesterday evening at a home in Ellington Road.

It took over an hour to bring the fire under control and the Red Cross Victim Support Unit were called to help the occupants.

Meanwhile almost 40 firefighters spent a number of hours tackling a large fire at a storage unit in Sandwich.

Extra crews from Wingham , Thanet and Deal were needed to bring the fire at Sandown Road under control.

And also in Sandwich, residents had to be evacuated from the Bell hotel at just before 3am today.

Investigations have been launched to find out the causes of these fires.
