Football star's brother to be extradited

A WANTED man who has been missing for almost two years after jumping bail has been arrested in Australia.

Sean Cahill, 28, formerly of Ravensbourne Road, Bromley, is being held in custody by Sydney police officers on charges of assault after allegedly blinding an Orpington man in 2004.

He has been in custody since March 9 and is expected to be extradited back to the UK in the next few weeks.

His arrest follows a renewed appeal by Bromley Extra and the Kent Messenger Group's website www.kentonline.co.uk.

Cahill, the brother of Premiership footballer Tim Cahill, was originally arrested by Bromley police officers in the early hours of Sunday, July 11, 2004, after he was allegedly involved in a fight with a 28-year-old man outside a cab firm in East Street, Bromley.

However, Bromley police officers obtained a warrant for his arrest on May 5, when it was discovered he was no longer at his home address.

The Metropolitan police have been searching for Cahill ever since then and officers worked with Australian officials.
