Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler is hoping to bring at least one new face to Priestfield on Tuesday.

But it is unlikely to be a busy day at Priestfield as the transfer deadline for permanent deals closes at 11pm.

"I don’t think there will be a lot of action," said the Gills boss (pictured) when quizzed on the likelihood of new arrivals.

Teams will be able to loan players again as from next week but deals for senior players will then be restricted to a maximum of 93-day deals.

Hessenthaler said: "There might be a possibility we could bring someone in, we’ll have to wait and see."

The Gills currently have 30 professionals on their books so Hessenthaler is aware he already has plenty of options at his disposal as he attempts to end the current slump.

He said: " I have had a chat with the chairman and we have the bodies in here and we have the numbers but it’s just a case of picking the right numbers. I think if there is a possibility to add a fresh face then it never hurts."

Hessenthaler is taking a look at West Ham’s young midfielder Oliver Lee, who has been on loan at Dagenham already this season. The 20-year-old is the son of former England player Rob Lee and was recently on trial at Derby.
