Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler believes there is little to gain from training on Christmas Day

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler is set to deliver his squad some early festive cheer.
Hessenthaler (pictured) is preparing his side for a massive test against League 2 leaders Crawley on Boxing Day.
He now needs to decide whether to drag his side in for training on Christmas Day and admits he’s not keen.
“I am not a great fan of bringing players in on Christmas Day and disrupting that,” said the Gills manager.
“I am not sure what you get out of it. You can do all your prep work on Christmas Eve and you need to put a lot of trust in your players. I trust them and there is a mutual respect there.
“If you are going to drag them away from their families, some who have families up north who are coming down and they don’t see very often, do you want to disrupt that for the sake of an hour/hour and a half? I am not sure.
“I don’t think there is a lot of mileage in that but we haven’t decided yet and we will see how training goes this week.”
