Andy Hessenthaler believes he has a striker who is more than capable of out-firing Rotherham’s much-hyped frontman Adam Le Fondre.

Gillingham meet Rotherham on Saturday in a League 2 tussle between two unbeaten teams and with two in-form forwards.

Le Fondre is currently the talk of the division after his impressive start to the season prompted neighbours Sheffield Wednesday to come knocking ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

Hessenthaler has his own man in form, though, with Danny Kedwell, pictured, scoring twice last weekend, and believes he has enough to rock their early challengers at the top of the table.

Hessenthaler said: "I am sure they were watching us on Saturday and their scout will go back saying we are a strong team. Likewise, we had them watched and they are strong – two good teams will be on show. We just need to make sure we do our job and if we do that, we will have a decent day.

"They have got a goalscorer in Le Fondre who is hitting the headlines a bit. He is one we need to try and keep quiet because he can get goals from nothing. We are aware of him but they will also be aware of us.

"We have got a striker in Kedwell who got up and running at the weekend. They will have seen what he did at AFC Wimbledon."

Hessenthaler is likely to stick to the same starting XI as he did in the 3-0 win over Plymouth last weekend, with Chris Whelpdale expected to miss out again with a dead leg.
