Andy Hessenthaler has again stressed the need to act quickly if he wants to sign Argentinian keeper Paolo Gazzaniga.

Rival clubs are already showing interest in the talented 19-year-old who has featured in the majority of Gillingham’s pre-season games. A decision is likely to be made on Gazzaniga (pictured) imminently.

Hessenthaler said: "He has been with us for a couple of weeks and he is getting some interest from other clubs. That’s a concern to me as we don’t want to lose him.

"We do need competition for Ross Flitney because we have competition everywhere else.

"We do like the look of him and he looks a massive prospect. We may be able to do something with him and this week some sort of decision will be made."

Hessenthaler, meanwhile, is keen to see more of winger Reggie Lambe.

The 20-year-old, who has been capped by Bermuda, was released by Championship side Ipswich in the summer.

He has featured in several friendly matches, including Saturday's match against Millwall and the 1-1 draw with Braintree on Monday night.

"He looked bright when he came on (against Millwall)," said Hessenthaler. "It’s not easy to come on and make an impact but what he did he did well.

"He is very technically correct and he has a bit of pace about him. We may well have another look at him.
