Gillingham put player contract talks on hold

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler says that contract talks with senior members of his squad will have to wait.
Hessenthaler doesn’t want to get side-tracked with discussions over player deals for next season until he knows for certain which division the Gills will be playing in.
Only then will he be able to start talking business with the players whose contracts expire this summer.
Some, like Dennis Oli and Matt Lawrence, have already been told their futures lie elsewhere although contract talks are already underway with teenage defender Connor Essam.
Young right-back Jack Evans has also impressed this season and the club are likely to take up the option of another year on his deal.
But for the rest, like Danny Jackman (pictured), Barry Fuller , Garry Richards and Curtis Weston, the future is less certain.
Hessenthaler said: "We need to get the season finished and sit down with the chairman and look at everything that goes on.
"There are a lot of players thinking where they are going to be because they are out of contract. It’s not the right time at the moment and we need to wait and see what happens. We will then sit down with those concerned and make our decisions."
