Danny Kedwell netted his seventh of the season on Saturday but hopes his first goal in open play since the end of September will have silenced a few.

It was particularly special as his parents had travelled to the game to watch.

“It was great to have scored from open play because lately I have been getting a bit of stick about that,” he said.

“It was an unbelievable feeling and buzz. I didn’t know what to do. That’s why I slid on my knees. I never do that.

“I saw the fans going mental and that made me go even more mental. I just wanted to jump in there with them but obviously I didn’t want to get booked.

“It’s the first time since I have been playing that my parents have travelled so far to watch me and so I am happy for them that they have seen me score and equaliser. It was a good trip in the end for them.

“It was a great buzz for me and I know I can score goals. It just shows that I can put them away from open play.

“I just need to keep working hard and, as I have said before, once the goals start coming they won’t stop.”
