Gills in new sponsorship deal

DISCUSSIONS: Kent Reliance chief executive Mike Lazenby

GILLINGHAM Football Club are to unveil a shirt sponsorship deal that will involve a change of name for Priestfield.

The club's ground is expected to be named the KRBS Priestfield Stadium after an agreement with Kent Reliance Building Society.

The three-year deal is understood to be worth more than the £400,000 paid by present shirt sponsor mhs homes. The mhs sponsorship deal ends in May when Kent Reliance would take over.

Shirt designs showing the new “krbs.com” logo have been produced. Fans are voting online for their favourite design for next season, although they do not yet show the krbs.com logo.

Kent Reliance has been holding talks with club chairman Paul Scally for several weeks and, according to sources close to the situation, a contract was signed on Friday. Mike Lazenby, society chief executive who negotiated Nationwide’s lucrative football sponsorship in his previous job, said: “We can confirm that we are in discussions with Gillingham Football Club."
