A PENSIONER who shared her lunch with two girls later discovered they had stolen from her.

The trusting woman invited the teenagers in after they knocked on the door of her home in Golden Hill, Whitstable, and asked to use the toilet. She was cooking and when the girls said they were hungry she gave them some of her food.

The pair stayed for about an hour and after they had left the woman discovered money and a gold watch was missing.

Investigating officer Det Con Theresa Gaughran, said: "It is shocking that these two girls could take advantage of a pensioner's generous nature in this way. Sadly artifice burglaries like this are quite common, especially when elderly people are involved."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police on 01227 762055.
