Gravesham picks up another BAFTA

THIS talented new media producer from Gravesham is beaming with pride after scooping a .

Alex Hryniewicz, 26, who grew up in Wrotham Road, Meopham, was presented with the fine accolade at a red carpet awards ceremony in London on Sunday, April 26.

The former Gravesend Grammar School for Boys pupil and his team won the interactivity category for Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies Online.

Mr Hryniewicz said: "It was such a big surprise as we were up against the BBC's Olympic coverage. I never expected to get into the television industry but I think studying IT at school definitely helped."

The 26-year-old has followed in the footsteps of BAFTA winner Paul Greengrass from Gravesend, who was named best director for United 93 at the 60th British Academy Film Awards in 2007.

Alex's sister cllr Laura Hryniewicz, who is cabinet member for Young Gravesham, said: "It is fantastic that someone born and educated in the borough has won the award. It is absolutely inspiring for all young people in Gravesham. I am immensely proud of him."
