In the words of the famous Mary Poppins song, kite enthusiasts can ‘go fly a kite’ at Capstone Park’s annual kite festival.

Kites over Capstone takes place from August 16-17 between 10am and 4pm.

The park’s 18-acre field has near perfect flying conditions for much of the year because of its elevation and prevailing wind direction.

The Mayor of Medway Cllr David Carr will officially open the kite festival at 10am on the Saturday.

There’s something for all the family to enjoy including kite making sessions for children and a dedicated children’s kite flying area; clown acts, face painting and live music.

Local kite societies will be taking part; visitors can also buy their own kite at the festival and learn to fly it.

Entry is £1.50. Capstone Farm Country Park is located in Capstone Road, Gillingham.
