THE Kent Messenger Group's website, KentOnline.co.uk, has won national recognition in the 2006 Newspaper Awards.

The site was Highly Commended in the Electronic Weekly Newspaper of the Year section. The awards, presented at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Wednesday, May 10, are for national and regional businesses involved in news media.

The judges commented on KentOnline's freshness and innovations, such as Kent Today video news, radio news podcasts and radio streaming.

Mike Whiting, KM’s head of technology development, said: "This is a great result for us. KentOnline is at the heart of the KM Group's multi-media strategy and is at the forefront of innovations such as video news with its Kent Today news bulletins.
