Horses rescued from waterlogged field
Published: 08:09, 11 February 2009
Seven horses were rescued from a field after the River Medway burst its banks.
The animals were in a field in Forstal Road, Aylesford which flooded yesterday afternoon.
Two of the animals, who were up to their necks in water, were led to safety by Kent County Council workers.
The other five were rescued by fire officers from the Faversham Animal Rescue Team, who cut a hole in a fence and took the horses to higher ground.
Kent Fire and Rescue's Water Safety Unit from Larkfield was also at the scene with a boat, which was not used.
Watch manager Peter Campbell said: "The horses were not distressed. They tend to only get agitated if they are on their own."
