More than half-a-million people are estimated to have descended on London today - many from Kent - in the biggest rally against Brexit to date.

Activists from the county marched on the capital's streets to demand British people have a vote on the final deal negotiated with the EU.

Organisers claim 700,000 people turned out, while Scotland Yard said it was unable to estimate the size of the crowds.

The demonstration started on Park Lane and ended at Parliament Square.

People's Vote UK tweeted afterwards: "Thank you to everyone who joined the #PeoplesVoteMarch today. All 700,000 of you, please get home safe."

Some celebrity campaigners contributed to buses bringing people to the capital from all over the country.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Bob Geldof had offered to fund a free coach for protesters to attend.

However, it was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Many people argue the protest is an affront to the referendum result.

Jacob Rees-Mogg tweeted today: "We have already had a People's vote. The People voted to Leave."

Co-chair of the Leave Means Leave campaign Richard Tice said: "It is not a people's vote, it is actually a losers' vote.

"They can't accept the democratic will of the public.

"They only accept democracy when it votes their way.

"It is a losers' vote by those who don't understand why 17.4 million people up and down the country voted to leave."
