A HOMEOWNER who has chased off thieves three times in as many days says he is selling up and moving out.

Determined thieves tried on three nights to break into the garden games room belonging to Chris Andrews and now he and his wife, Sara, have had enough.

Mr Andrews, 39, lives in Livingstone Road, Gillingham, and has spent years getting his boys’ games room just the way he wants it.

He and his teenage son love nothing more than spending time there.

They enjoy listening to music, playing pool and relaxing together, but just more than a week ago, overnight on Tuesday, February 6, the room was invaded.

Mr Andrews said: “The alarms were activated, so whoever was trying to break in, ran off. I found a hole in the roof where someone had tried to get in. They never managed to get anything, but the tiles were broken and will have to be replaced.”

He thought the culprits might come back the next evening as they left empty-handed, so in a bid to catch them, he and his wife stayed up all night and kept a vigil with the help of a baby monitor.

Mr Andrews said: “We put the baby monitor in the room and at about 1am we heard a rustling sound so I ran out and the culprits ran off.

“We did the same the next night and they came back again so we called the police and they came and helped search the area, but again, the culprits had gone.

“The next morning I found two hacksaws close by, so they were determined to get in.

“Sara and I have had enough now. I’ve lived in Gillingham for a long time and worked hard on getting the room the way it is. It was a safe haven and now it’s not, so I’ve taken everything out of it and won’t be putting it back in.

“We’ve had it with this place. It’s spoilt living here, so we are going to move. I don’t know where we will look for a new home, but will go beyond Medway if it seems better.”
