A washing liquid thief and a drugged up driver are among those to face justice in Kent's magistrates' courts in the past couple of weeks.

Ramsgate man in prison for six counts of shoplifting

Terry Thurling of Arklow Square, stole items from a shop in Margate Road, Broadstairs.

The 35-year-old stole items worth £355.80 from another shop in Margate Road, Broadstairs, and made off from a taxi without paying the £17.60 fare.

Magistrates sentenced Thurling to 60 days in prison and he must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Ashford driver sent to prison

Richard Read, of Riverview, drove a Ford Fiesta in Hillbrow Lane, Ashford, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to 150 days in prison and he must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Folkestone woman charged with multiple offences

She pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis, shoplifting, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Zoe Howard, of St Paul’s Way, drove a Mercedes Coupe in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, while disqualified and with no insurance.

On another date, the 32-year-old stole two boxes of chocolates worth £26.50 from a service station in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone.

She was also involved in the production of cannabis in Folkestone.

Magistrates ordered Howard to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the next year and banned her from driving for three years.

She must also pay £26 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Folkestone woman handed 180 hours of unpaid work for assault

Shelley Mackenzie, of George Gurr Crescent, assaulted a woman at a pub in Rendezvous Street, Folkestone.

Magistrates ordered the 26-year-old to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

She must also pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Washing up liquid thief to pay more than £1,000

Cheri Goldfinch of Stanhope Road, Ashford stole DVDs worth £92 from a shop in Sandgate Road, Folkestone and cosmetics totaling £500 from a pharmacy in The Singleton Centre, Ashford on separate dates in September.

In October, the 27-year-old stole cosmetics worth £134.92 from a pharmacy in Sandgate Road, Folkestone and washing up liquid worth £41 from another shop on the same road.

Later that month she failed to appear in court after bail at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court without a reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced Goldfinch to 70 days in prison, suspended for a year, and gave her a three month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until February 27 2017.

She must also pay £767 compensation, a £50 fine, £85 costs and a £140 victim surcharge.

Folkestone thief charged

Jamie Birch, of Rendezvous Street, stole clothing and fragrances worth £114 from a supermarket in Bouverie Place Shopping Centre, Folkestone, and had a foil lined box on him to use during the theft.

The 38-year-old also stole clothing worth £149.97 from a shop in Bouverie Place Shopping Centre, Folkestone, and again had a foil lined bag on him.

Magistrates sentenced Birch to 90 days in prison, suspended for a year.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ashford man sentenced for car related crime

Jack Strover, of Bredgar Close, interfered with a Yamaha motorcycle in Noakes Meadow, Ashford, with the intention of stealing the vehicle or stealing from the vehicle.

Magistrates ordered the 29-year-old to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £400 compensation and £85 costs.

Dover drink driver banned and fined

Marek Balog, of East Cliff, drove a Skoda Octavia in Winchelsea Road, Dover, and gave a breath test of 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 26-year-old from driving for a year and eight months. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Drink driver more than double the limit handed ban

Dhan Tamang, of Canada Close, Folkestone, drove a BMW in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, and gave a breath test of 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 55-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £325 fine, £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Folkestone man sent to prison

Loma Israilov, of Peter Street, received cosmetic items, e-cigarettes, a thermometer and a digital breathalyser worth £309.92, knowing they were stolen goods.

Magistrates sentenced the 41-year-old to 56 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned for a year and a half

Naiomi Proverbs, of Ambleside Place, Canterbury, drove a VW Polo in Pin Hill, Canterbury, and gave a breath test of 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 33-year-old from driving for a year and a half. She must also pay a £615 fine, £85 costs and a £62 victim surcharge.

Herne Bay attacker handed 200 hours of unpaid work

On 29 May, 26-year-old Toni Lowther, of Greenhill Road, Herne Bay, assaulted a woman in High Street, Herne Bay.

Magistrates sentenced her to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, ordered her to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year and gave her an eight week curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until January 18 2017.

She must also pay £300 compensation, £250 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Coffee and milk thief behind bars

Christopher Boxall, of Sweyn Road, Margate, burgled an office at a hospital in Ramsgate Road, Margate, and stole a box of cash, coffee and milk worth an unknown amount.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 140 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Meat thief sent to prison

Homeless Robert Taylor stole meat worth £70 from a supermarket in St Dunstan’s Street, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 40-year-old to 84 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Theft attempt lands Strood man in prison

Thomas Hawkins, of Darnley Road, attempted to steal money from a parking meter in New Dover Road, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 22-year-old to 120 days in prison, however the overall length is 240 days as the crime was committed during a suspended sentence.

He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Ashford drink driver banned and handed more than £2,000 in fines

Oliver Mount, of Grasmere Road, drove a BMW in Rothbrook Drive, Ashford, and gave a breath test of 110 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 35-year-old from driving for just over two years. He must also pay a £2,215 fine, £85 costs and a £170 victim surcharge.

Strood man charged for attempting to steal money

Joel Morgan, of Bligh Way, attempted to steal money from a parking meter in New Dover Road, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 26-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and gave him a three month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until February 27 2017.

He must also pay £50 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Woman with crack cocaine put in prison

Homeless Erica Llewellyn-Jones had 0.13 grams of crack cocaine on her in Mill Lane, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to 30 days in prison, however the total length is 120 days as it was committed during a suspended sentence.

She must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver nearly triple the limit charged

Tim Hooton, of Victoria Road, Folkestone, drove a Fiat Doblo in New Dover Road, Folkestone, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 94 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 51-year-old to 180 days in prison, suspended for a year and a half, ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year, banned him from driving for more than four years and gave him a two month curfew to remain at an address in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, between 8pm and 6am daily until 29 January next year.

Homeless Steven Bull stole two electric shavers worth £328 from a shop in Biggin Street, Dover.

Magistrates sentenced the 41-year-old to 56 days in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £328 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver more than triple the limit banned

Peter Hathaway, of The Grove, Dover, drove a Vauxhall Astra in Coombe Valley Road, Dover, and gave a breath test of 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 72-year-old from driving for more than two years. He must also pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

Drugged up driver banned and fined

Homeless Andrew Williamson drove a Vauxhall Astra in Woodchurch Road, Ashford, without a licence and with no insurance.

He gave a blood test of 173 microgrammes of Benzoylecgonine per litre of blood and 65 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood. The threshold limits are 50 microgrammes and 10 microgrammes respectively.

Magistrates banned the 37-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £240 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Minister woman behind bars for shoplifting

Emma Frewen, of Benedictine Road, stole four gift sets worth £72, skin care items worth £165 and another four gift sets worth £72 from a shop in High Street, Margate on three different dates.

The 39-year-old also stole clothing worth £78 from a shop in The Centre, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced Frewen to 84 days in prison and she must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Maidstone man banned for three years

David Palmer, of Hart Street, drove a VW Polo in King Edward Road, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 30-year-old also failed to appear in court following bail without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates banned Palmer from driving for three years. He must also pay a £230 fine, £300 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Tonbridge woman triple the limit banned and handed unpaid work

Emma Peterson, of Hectorage Road, Tonbridge, drove a Ford Ka on the A21, Lamberhurst, and gave a breath test of 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 35-year-old from driving for two years and ordered her to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. She must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Ben Walton, of London Road East, Aylesford, drove a Renault Traffic in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, and gave a breath test of 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 30-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £110 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Four year ban for Sevenoaks woman

Louisa Buckhurst, of Swanzy Road, drove a Vauxhall Zafira in Seal Hollow Road, Sevenoaks, and gave a breath test of 115 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 36-year-old from driving for four years. She must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Alcohol thief charged

Michael Barnes, of Greatness Lane, Sevenoaks, stole three bottles of whiskey and two bottles of champagne worth £130 from a supermarket in Sovereign Way, Tonbridge.

Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to 56 days in prison, suspended for six months. He must also pay £65 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Sheerness man charged for assault

John Bain, of Cliff Drive, assaulted three women and damaged a car wing mirror in King Street, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, and gave him a three month curfew to remain at an address in Hazebrock Road, Faversham, between 9pm and 5am daily until February 21 next year.

He must also pay £475 compensation, £620 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Margate man handed 200 hours of unpaid work

Jake Weyand, of Millmead Road, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in King Street, Maidstone, causing him to fear violence.

Magistrates ordered the 26-year-old to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £200 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Tanya Ballantyne, of Forest Road, Tunbridge Wells, drove a Land Rover Discovery in Vale Road, Tunbridge Wells, and gave a breath test of 79 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 46-year-old from driving for a year and a half. She must also pay a £1,250 fine, £85 costs and a £125 victim surcharge.

Maidstone man charged

Henry Barton, of South Park Road, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman and racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in Granville Road, Maidstone.

He also damaged a hose worth £30.

Magistrates sentenced the 41-year-old to 30 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Maidstone man charged for common assault

Michael Kidner of Allnutt Mill Close, assaulted a woman in Brenchley Gardens, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 34-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for two years. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Dangerous driver handed 200 hours of unpaid work

Shaune Chaney, of Maidstone Road, Hothfield, dangerously drove an Isuzu on the M26 at Sevenoaks.

Magistrates ordered the 48-year-old to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year and banned him from driving for a year. He must also pay £300 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Chatham thief in prison of shoplifting

Tammy Slaughter, of Beacon Road, stole various items worth £123.87 and damaged a pair of boots worth £129.99 at a shop in St Peter’s Street, Maidstone.

She then failed to turn up to court following bail without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 41-year-old to 30 days in prison. She must also pay a £100 fine, £129 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Homeless man charged for cannabis possession

Homeless Richard Clark used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at a bank in Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells.

He also had cannabis on him in Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells, and made threats to cause damage to Tunbridge Wells Police Station.

Magistrates sentenced the 47-year-old to a fortnight in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Pawel Gradziuk, of The Street, drove a BMW in Boxley Road, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 25-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Kayleigh Battams, of Apple Close, assaulted two police officers at Maidstone Police Station.

Magistrates sentenced the 23-year-old to 56 days in prison, suspended for a year, and gave her a four month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until March 29 2017.

She must also pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Susan Excell, of Maynards, drove a Vauxhall Agila in Linton Hill, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 78 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 51-year-old from driving for three years and four months. She must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Margate woman handed 200 hours of unpaid work

Jodie Pashley, of Millmead Road, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in King Street, Maidstone, causing him to fear violence.

Magistrates ordered the 24-year-old to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year and she must also pay £200 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Chatham woman in prison for false refunds

Sade Knight, of Dale Street, falsely getting a refund of £8 for an item she hadn’t bought at a shop in The Pentagon Shopping Centre, Chatham.

The 26-year-old also falsely obtained a refund of £3.80 for items she hadn’t bought at the same shop.

Magistrates sentenced Knight to a fortnight in prison, but because the offences were committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence, the overall length of her sentence is 44 days. She must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Mark Wooldridge, of King Street, Rochester, had a two-pronged carving fork and a four inch kitchen knife in Victoria Street, Rochester.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to ten weeks in prison and he must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Dartford man handed 180 hours of unpaid work

Andreaj Jankowoski, of The Brent, stole fragrances and a can of drink worth £61.25 from a supermarket in The Priory Shopping Centre, Dartford. He also had a quantity of amphetamine and a knife on him.

Magistrates ordered the 29-year-old to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £1 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Wine thief charged

Stuart Porter, of Carrington Close, Gillingham, stole crisps and drinks worth £14 from a service station in Temple Gardens, Strood.

On two other dates he also stole wine and groceries worth £40 and two bottles of wine worth £20 from the same service station.

Magistrates sentenced the 22-year-old to 21 days in prison, suspended for one year. He must also pay £74 compensation and £85 costs.

Chatham man charged for stealing meat and washing gel

Justin Baker, of Chelmar Road, Chatham, stole five bottles of washing gel worth £35 from a shop in The Pentagon Shopping Centre, Chatham.

He also stole meat from a shop in City Way, Rochester and on another day meat worth £22.30 from the same shop.

He then failed to turn up to court after bail without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 31-year-old to 28 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. He must also pay £87 compensation, £85 costs and a £140 victim surcharge.

Mark Fletcher, of Shipwrights Avenue, Chatham, stole chocolate from a shop in Watling Street, Chatham.

Another a different day, he drove an Audi A4 in Pier Road, Gillingham, with no insurance. He also had a quantity of herbal cannabis on him.

Magistrates sentenced the 40-year-old to a week in prison, suspended for one year, and banned him from driving for six months. He must also pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Chatham man sentenced for car crimes

Alan Maxwell, drove a Ford Focus in Capstone Road, Chatham, while disqualified, without care and attention and without a valid licence or insurance.

He also failed to stop after a road accident where damage was caused to another vehicle and failed to report the accident.

The address on his driving licence was not correct, and Maxwell had failed to change it without reasonable excuse.

Maninderpal Heire, of Old Road West, Gravesend, drove a BMW 3 Series in Tudor Close, Gravesend, and gave a blood test of 276 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

Magistrates banned the 39-year-old from driving for three years and ordered her to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year. She must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Man charged for car interference

Across two days, Shane Norley, of Melville Court, Chatham, interfered with a Fiat Punto in Saunders Street, Gillingham, with the intention of stealing the vehicle or stealing from the vehicle.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and gave him a two month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until January 21, 2017. He must also pay £200 compensation.

Serial shoplifter charged

Ross Collins, of Conifer Drive, Chatham, stole meat worth £50 from a shop in Delce Road, Rochester.

He also stole meat and laundry products worth £6 from a shop in Gillingham Road, Gillingham and stole meat worth £100 from a shop in Canterbury Street, Gillingham.

Magistrates sentenced the 33-year-old to 36 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. He must also pay a £140 victim surcharge.

Gravesend man won't be driving for three years

Parminder Dhanda, of Darnley Road, Gravesend, drove a Ford Focus on the A2, Dartford, and gave a breath test of 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 35-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £380 fine, £85 costs and a £38 victim surcharge.

Strood drink driver banned

Michael Farrand, of Carnation Road, drove a Ford Fiesta on the B255, Greenhithe, and gave a breath test of 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 21-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £275 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Seven-time shoplifter charged

Thomas Medhurst, of Railway Street, Gillingham, stole coffee worth £18 from a supermarket in Gillingham Road, Gillingham.

The 47-year-old stole coffee worth £10 from a shop in Commercial Road, Strood, coffee worth £10 from another shop in Commerical Road and meat from a butcher in High Street, Strood.

On two other days, he stole chocolate bars worth £32 from a supermarket in Pier Approach Road, Gillingham and two candles worth £43.98 and three bottles of health supplement tablets worth £89.97 from two shops in Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham.

Magistrates sentenced Medhurst to 240 days in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Coffee thief jailed

Homeless Craig Foreman, stole meat worth a total of £183.21 from shops in Twydall Green, Gillingham.

On two different dates he stole a total of 11 jars of coffee a shop in Twydall Green.

Magistrates sentenced the 27-year-old to 210 days in prison.

Sukhvir Kaur Mann, of Manor Road, assaulted a woman and damaged net curtains worth £25 at an address in Darnley Road, Strood.

Magistrates sentenced the 43-year-old to 90 days in prison. He must also pay £250 compensation.

Charity shop thief charged

Terry Monaghan, of Duncan Road, Gillingham, stole computer games from a charity shop in High Street, Gillingham.

Magistrates sentenced the 49-year-old to four weeks in prison, suspended for two years. He must also pay £34 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Chatham drink driver

Joseph Sharp, of Prospect Row, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Clover Street, Chatham, and gave a breath test of 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 34-year-old to four weeks in prison and banned him from driving for 379 days. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Drugged up driver 16 times limit banned

Danny Clark, of Caxton Close, Hartley, drove a BMW 325ci in Wrotham Road, Meopham, and gave a blood test of 800 microgrammes of Benzoylecgonine per litre of blood. The threshold limit is 50 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 27-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Sittingbourne attacker sentenced

Liam Jones, of Shakespeare Road, sent a very offensive message via a public electronic communications network.

He also assaulted two men at a supermarket in Bridge Road, Sheerness.

Magistrates sentenced the 19-year-old to 90 days in prison, suspended for two years. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Hoo driver banned for more than a year

Sunjeet Khatnoria, of Rivenhall Way, drove a Ford Ka in Dashmonden Close, Rochester, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates banned the 20-year-old from driving for a year and a half and ordered him to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Rochester man must pay £500 compensation

Andrew Radford, of The Fairway, stole a mobile phone worth £500 from a man at a shop in Canterbury Street, Gillingham.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 28 days in prison. He must also pay £500 compensation.

Stephen Bignall, of Laburnum Place, Sittingbourne, stole toys worth an unknown amount from a supermarket in Mill Way, Sittingbourne.

He also stole clothing worth £180 from a shop in The Forum, Sittingbourne.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 40 days in prison. He must also pay £480 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
