A woman drunk while looking after a young child and a man who stole from a charity shop are among those to face justice in Kent's magistrates' courts in this week's round-up.



Burglar handed curfew

Brian Fenlon, of Thatch Barn Road, Headcorn, burgled an address in Thatch Barn Road, and stole personal effects and clothing worth an unknown amount.

Magistrates sentenced the 36-year-old to 180 days in prison, suspended for two years, and gave him a three month curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 5am daily until April 22.

He must also pay £250 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver more than three times the limit sentenced

Liam Boyd, of Swanley Lane, Swanley, drove a Ford Transit in Brook Road, Swanley, and gave a breath test of 134 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

He also failed to report a road accident where damage was caused to another vehicle.

Magistrates sentenced the 33-year-old to 80 days in prison, suspended for a year, banned him from driving for two years and eight months and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Four years off the road for one driver

Zackari Burniston-Jones, of Hayle Road, Maidstone, drove a Land Rover Discovery on the A228, Snodland, while disqualified and with no insurance. He also resisted a police officer in the execution of their duty.

Magistrates sentenced the 25-year-old to 140 days in prison, suspended for a year, and banned him from driving for four years. He must also pay £40 compensation and £300 costs.

Drunk and disorderly woman must pay £400

Hayley Clements, of Knight Road, Tonbridge, was drunk and disorderly in Knight Road, and assaulted a special constable.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for a year and a half. She must also pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

200 hours of unpaid work for one woman

Charlotte Symes, of Orchard Close, Sevenoaks, drove a Renault Clio in Pilgrims Way, Sevenoaks, and gave a urine test of 325 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine. The legal limit is 107 milligrammes.

She was also drunk while in charge of a child under seven years old.

Magistrates banned the 26-year-old from driving for two years and four months and ordered her to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

Shoplifter sentenced

Brenda Rossiter, of Church Field, Snodland, stole beer, shampoo and a book worth £16.50 from a shop in High Street, Snodland.

On three different days she stole, altogether, a bottle of whiskey, cheese, sweets, a ready meal, meat, biscuits and washing up liquid worth a total of £56.50 from a supermarket in Sovereign Way, Tonbridge..

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for a year. She must also pay £73 compensation.

Harasser sentenced

Ian Carney, of Bourne Way, Swanley, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman at a fast food restaurant in the Swanley Centre, Swanley, causing her harassment, alarm or distress.

Magistrates sentenced the 47-year-old to six weeks in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £100 compensation and £85 costs.

Drug handler sentenced

Frankie Schock, of St Peter’s Street, Maidstone, drove a Ford Focus in Stangrove Road, Edenbridge, while disqualified and with no insurance.

She also had cannabis on her and gave a breath test of 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 29-year-old to 70 days in prison, suspended for a year and a half, and banned her from driving for three years. She must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Double shoplifter must pay more than £400

Lisa Wallace, of Owletts Close, Maidstone, stole cosmetics from a shop in Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells.

On another day, she stole baby milk powder and nappies worth £14.70 from a shop in Loose Road, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 43-year-old to 131 days in prison, suspended for a year. She must also pay £68 compensation, £235 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Dodgy driver off the road for more than two years

Tania Mendes-Dias, of Addison Road, Tunbridge Wells, drove a Mercedes in Addison Road, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to 63 days in prison, suspended for one year, and banned her from driving for two years and four months.

She must also pay a £530 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Knife possessor sentenced

Julia Ball, of Priory Road, Tonbridge, had a knife in High Street, Tonbridge.

Magistrates sentenced the 50-year-old to 42 days in prison, suspended for a year. She must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Three years off the road for one driver

Daryl Emptage, of York Road, Maidstone, drove a Black Urban DZ motorcycle in Brenchley Road, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 22-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Drink driver sentenced

Bradley Holloway, of Avington Close, Maidstone, drove a Fiat Punto in Lucerne Street, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 22-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £130 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Man without registration plates banned

Taric Matticks, of St George’s Square, Maidstone, drove a BMW 1 Series in Union Street, Maidstone, with no front or rear registration plates and gave a breath test of 90 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 29-year-old from driving for a year and eleven months and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Food thief sentenced

Arron Stanley, of Shooters Hill, Dover, stole coffee and food items worth an unknown amount from a shop in Castle Street, Dover.

Magistrates sentenced the 37-year-old to 30 days in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £20 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Serial shoplifter behind bars

Jeremy Martin, of Cheriton Road, Folkestone, stole meat worth £26 from a service station in Cheriton High Street, Cheriton.

The 48-year-old also stole two electric razors worth £124 from a shop in Sandgate Road, Folkestone.

On a different day he broke into a charity shop in Sandgate Road, Folkestone, and stole watches, rings and a computer game worth £183.50.

He then stole four mobile phone cases worth £100 from a shop in Alexandra Gardens, Folkestone.

Martin also stole four mobile phone cases worth £100 from the same shop.

Magistrates sentenced him to 300 days in prison. He must also pay £533 compensation.

Two hundred hours of unpaid work for one man

Luke McCartney, of Bath Road, Margate, assaulted a man at a bar in Albert Terrace, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 22-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Unpaid work for shoplifter

Homeless Elena Scurtu stole various items worth £856, £199.99 and £444.95 from three different shops in Kimberley Way, Ashford.

Magistrates ordered the 47-year-old to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next year. She must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Ban and unpaid work for one drink driver

Homeless Daniel Mears drove a Ford Transit in the Channel Tunnel UK Terminal, Cheriton, and gave a breath test of 133 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 45-year-old to four months in prison, suspended for a year and a half, banned him from driving for four years and ordered him to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Four time driving offender sentenced

Adi-Clement Ciumasu, of Charlton Centre High Street, Dover, drove a Honda Civic in Military Road, Canterbury, without a licence, with no insurance and without a test certificate.

He also gave a breath test of 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 21-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Man with cannabis in prison

Baz Hockton, of Wellington Crescent, Ramsgate, had a quantity of cannabis on him in St Augustine’s Road, Ramsgate.

Magistrates sentenced the 23-year-old to 28 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Year and a half off the road for drink driver

Jonjo Forsyth, of Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, drove a Kia Caren in Littlebourne Road, and gave a breath test of 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 24-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Prison for driving offender

Nathan Schwingen, of Northdown Hill, Broadstairs, drove a Peugeot 306 in Eastern Esplanade, Margate, while disqualified and with no insurance.

He also failed to stop the vehicle when required to do so by a police officer and had a knuckle duster in Tomlin Drive, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 27-year-old to 26 weeks in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Perfume and coat shoplifter in prison

Roman Balog, of Otway Street, Chatham, stole perfume worth £80 from a shop in Maritime Way, Chatham.

On two different days he stole perfume worth a total of £179.76 from a shop in The Pentagon Shopping Centre, Chatham.

He also stole coats worth a total of £269.94 from a shop in High Street, Gillingham on two different days.

Magistrates sentenced the 23-year-old to 120 days in prison. He must also pay £526 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Teen shoplifter sentenced

Matej Slepcik, of Salisbury Road, Chatham, failed to surrender to bail at Medway Police Station without reasonable excuse.

He then failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Following this he stole washing detergent and baby milk worth £41.76 from a shop in Southill Road, Chatham.

He then resisted a police officer in the execution of their duty in Chatham.

Magistrates sentenced the 18-year old to 60 days in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £41 compensation.

Gravesend man banned

Marek Zolnacz, of Singlewell Road, drove a Peugeot 307 in Windmill Street, Gravesend, without a licence and gave a breath test of 103 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 30-year-old from driving for a year and eight months and gave him a six month curfew to remain at home between 11pm and 5am daily until July 23.

He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Chatham woman sentenced for vehicle interference

Sade Knight, of Fort Pitt Street, Chatham, had foil lined bags in her possession at a shopping centre in Greenhithe.

She also interfered with a Honda Civic in Hill Road, Rochester, intending to either steal the vehicle or steal from the vehicle.

Magistrates sentenced the 26-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year. She must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Homeless man sentenced

Homeless Kyle Donaldson assaulted a man in King Street, Gravesend.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Driving offender banned

Liudas Norkus, of College Road, Sittingbourne, drove a Ford Focus in Eurolink Way, Sittingbourne, without a licence and with no insurance.

He also gave a breath test of 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 20-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £500 fine, £85 costs and a £35 victim surcharge.

Two year ban for drink driver

Dariusz Pisarek, of Stoke Road, Hoo, drove a Vauxhall Vectra in Stoke Road, and gave a breath test of 114 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 40-year-old from driving for two years, ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year and gave him a 30 day curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until February 22.

He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Curfew for Chatham man

Christopher Head, of Curzon Road, broke into a scrap yard in Knight Road, Strood, with the intent to steal.

Magistrates sentenced the 21-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for a year, and gave him a 60 day curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until March 24. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Chatham man sentenced

Matthew Duggan, of Boundary Road, handled stolen camera equipment worth £6,000.

He then failed to attend an initial assessment at Medway Police Station to determine if he was dependent on Class A drugs.

Magistrates sentenced the 37-year-old to 80 days in prison, suspended for a year and a half, and gave him a two month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily until March 24.

He must also pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Whisky shoplifter jailed

Mark Hewitt, of Delamark Road, Sheerness, stole cosmetics worth £100 from a shop in High Street, Gillingham, and three bottles of whisky worth £75 from a supermarket in Bridge Road, Sheerness.

On two differents days he stole a total of seven bottles of whisky worth £175 from the same supermarket in Bridge Road, Sheerness.

He then failed to provide a sample for a Class A drug test without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 41-year-old to 300 days in prison. He must also pay £285 compensation.

Eight time shoplifter in prison

Homeless Andrew Coffield stole meat, food items, household items, perfumes and drink worth a total of £756.60 from shops in Chatham, Sittingbourne, Upchurch, Gillingham and Snodland on eight different counts.

Magistrates sentenced the 32-year-old to 16 weeks in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Six time shoplifter and attacker jailed

He pleaded guilty to six counts of shoplifting and two counts of common assault.

Douglas Frankham, of Cheshire Road, Maidstone, stole alcohol worth £8 from a shop in Minster Road, Sheerness.

He also assaulted two women at the same shop.

On two different days he stole alcohol and meat worth £105 from a shop in Queens Road, Minster.

On three different counts he stole, in total, food items, wine, doughnuts, meat and alcohol worth £57.47 from a shop in Main Road, Queenborough.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to 240 days in prison.
