A man with an air weapon in public and a driver caught behind the wheel after taking three types of drugs are among those to face justice in Kent's magistrates' courts in this week's round-up.

Homeless man sentenced for assault

Homeless Luke Cleary assaulted a man at a bar in Market Buildings, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 29-year-old to 126 days in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £125 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Drug driver banned

Claire Tye, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Waterloo Road, Tonbridge, while unfit to drive through drugs.

Magistrates banned the 31-year-old from driving for a year and a half. She must also pay a £180 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

More than three year ban for one driver

Georgie Crittenden, of Coombe Road, Maidstone, drove a Suzuki SX4 in Otford Road, Sevenoaks, and gave a blood test of 106 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

Magistrates banned the 29-year-old from driving for three years and four months. He must also pay a £580 fine, £85 costs and a £58 victim surcharge.

200 hours of unpaid work for disqualified driver

Ross Holland, of Walnut Close, Yalding, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Hildenborough Crescent, Maidstone, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates ordered the 39-year-old to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Drunk and disorderly woman in prison

Homeless Kerry Haigh stole a bottle of wine worth £6 from a service station in Sutton Road, Maidstone.

She was also drunk and disorderly and breached a criminal behaviour order by being drunk in a public place and causing a nuisance, annoyance, distress or alarm to members of the public.

Magistrates sentenced the 31-year-old to 63 days in prison.

Multiple offender in prison and banned from driving

Homeless Billy Matthews drove a Mercedes Benz on the A249, Stockbury, while disqualified and with no insurance.

He also stole packs of meat worth £90 from a service station in Branbridges Road, East Peckham.

He then stole clothing worth an unknown amount from a shop in Eclipse Park, Maidstone.

Matthews failed to surrender to bail at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

A couple of weeks later he drove a Vauxhall Zafira in Bearsted Road, Maidstone, while disqualified and with no insurance. He also failed to cooperate with a breath test without a reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to a year in prison and banned him from driving for two and a half years. He must also pay £156 compensation and £85 costs.

Man with air weapon in public sentenced

Barry Bonner, of Square Hill Road, Maidstone, had a HFC gas sport gun in Week Street, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for a year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

More than four year ban for Sittingbourne man

Igors Jevsejeus of Watsons Hill drove a Rover 46 in Staplehurst Road, Sittingbourne, and gave a breath test of 112 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 24-year-old from driving for four years and four months and ordered him to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Food shoplifter in prison

Homeless Dean Hart stole food worth £8 from a shop in Parkwood Green, Gillingham.

He then failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 44-year-old to 21 days in prison. He must also pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Unpaid work for attacker

Sarah Baker of Goudhurst Road, Gillingham, assaulted a woman in Sir Thomas Longley Road, Rochester, causing her actual bodily harm.

Magistrates ordered the 31-year-old to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work in the next year. She must also pay £300 compensation, £300 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Prison for boots thief

David Shaw stole boots worth £42, damaged clothing worth £99.95 and assaulted two men and two women at a shop in High Street, Sittingbourne.

Magistrates sentenced the 44-year-old to 60 days in prison. He must also pay £100 compensation.

Driving ban and unpaid work for one man

Andrew Collier, of The Everglades, Gillingham, attempted to drive a Ford Transit in Maidstone Road, Rochester, and gave a breath test of 110 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 34-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Driving offender banned and in prison

James Clark, of Luton Road, Chatham, drove a Vauxhall Corsa dangerously, without a licence and with no insurance in Sovereign Boulevard, Gillingham.

He also failed to stop the vehicle when required to do so by a police officer.

Magistrates sentenced the 25-year-old to six months in prison, suspended for a year, banned him from driving for a year and a half and ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay a £180 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ban and unpaid work for drink driver

Vitaliys Pipinish, of Wrotham Road, Gravesend, drove a Renault Scenic in Woodville Place, Gravesend, and gave a breath test of 148 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 43-year-old to six months in prison, suspended for two years, banned him from driving for two and a half years and ordered him to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Three year ban for one man

Homeless Jiri Mikulsky failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in Gravesend.

Magistrates sentenced the 46-year-old to eight weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and banned him from driving for three years. He must also pay a £275 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Unpaid work for stolen goods handler

Troy Chambers, of Gravesham Court, Gravesend, handled a selection of stolen Dewalt and Makita power tools worth £5,000.

Magistrates ordered the 40-year-old to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Fine and ban for drink driver

Nathan Dallimore, of Beckett Mews, Gravesend, drove a Ford Focus in Christian Fields Avenue, Gravesend, and gave a breath test of 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 23-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £150 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Three year ban for Gillingham man

Darrell Andreas, of Jeffery Street, drove a Ford Fiesta in Forge Lane, Gillingham, without a licence and with no insurance.

He gave a breath test of 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 34-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned

David Dorrell, of Valebrook Close, Folkestone, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Roman Way, Folkestone, and gave a breath test of 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

He then failed to surrender to bail at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates banned the 49-year-old from driving for a year and eight months. He must also pay a £65 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Driver off the road for more than a year

David Bolley-Smith, of Gas Street, Canterbury, drove a Volvo XC90 in Wingham Road, Canterbury, and gave a breath test of 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 60-year-old from driving for a year and seven months. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Driving offender banned

Ionel Negoita, of Kingsnorth Road, Ashford, drove an Alfa Romeo in Beaver Road, Ashford, without a licence and with no insurance. He gave a breath test of 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 22-year-old from driving for a year and eight months. He must also pay a £225 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Two and a half years off the road for one man

Paul Challis, of Blackburn Road, Herne Bay, drove a Proton in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, and gave a breath test of 122 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 40-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, banned him from driving for two and a half years and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Unpaid work and ban for Dover man

Joseph Riddell, of St Radigunds Road, drove a Ford Mondeo in Crabble Hill, Dover, and gave a breath test of 99 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 34-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

300 hours of unpaid work for receiving stolen good and shoplifting

Daniel Dwyer, of Vauxhall Avenue, Canterbury, received stolen goods; including electrical items, children’s clothes, toys, bedding, DVDs, CDs and laundry and sanitary products worth an unknown amount.

He also stole items worth £382.24 from a supermarket in Millstrood Road, Whitstable.

Magistrates ordered the 26-year-old to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Triple drug driver handed ban and unpaid work

Jacob Burrows, of Station Road, Canterbury, drove a Nissan NV200 in Barton Road, Dover, and gave a blood test of 54 microgrammes of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (Ecstasy) per litre of blood, 2.9 microgrammes of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, a chemical found in marijuana) per litre of blood and 279 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine (found in cocaine) per litre of blood.

The threshold limits are 10 microgrammes, two microgrammes and 50 microgrammes respectively.

Magistrates banned the 26-year-old from driving for a year and eight months and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Ban for failing to provide a specimen of breath

Kevin Young, of Lancaster Drive, Folkestone, failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in Folkestone.

Magistrates banned the 46-year-old from driving for a year and a half and ordered him to carry out 20 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Shoplifter handed curfew

Brodie Finch, of Queen Street, Herne Bay, stole shower gel, wine and food worth £45.22 from a service station in Kings Road, Herne Bay.

He also stole wine and sweets worth £17.20 from a shop in Canterbury Road, Herne Bay.

He then failed to surrender to bail at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 36-year-old to 180 days in prison, suspended for a year, and gave him an eight week curfew to remain at home between 9pm and 7am daily until April 12.

He must also pay £11 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ban for driver without insurance

Soloman McGahan, of St David’s Road, Ramsgate, drove a Renault Clio in Harbour Parade, Ramsgate, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 27-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Two year ban and unpaid work for one woman

Kerry Madine, of Bellevue Road, Ramsgate, drove a Mitsubishi Outlander in St Luke’s Avenue, Ramsgate, and gave a breath test of 90 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 53-year-old from driving for two years and ordered her to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work in the next year. She must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Jacket thief sentenced

Darrell Shaw, of Twelve Acres, Ashford, stole a jacket worth £650 and obstructed a police officer at a shop in Kimberley Way, Ashford.

Magistrates sentenced the 48-year-old to 35 days in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered him to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ban for drink driver

Aivars Platacis, of Surrey Road, Margate, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Addington Street, Margate, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 114 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 40-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
