It is the time of year when festive jumpers in all different shapes and styles are being dusted off for Yuletide.

As well as keeping us warm as the mercury drops, wearing a sweater on Christmas Jumper Day can also make a massive difference.

KentOnline is taking part in the annual tradition today – with staff across our offices donning their woolly garments.

Christmas Jumper Day 2023 takes place every year when people liven up their offices, homes or schools with snazzy knitwear.

The annual celebration is part of a good cause to raise money for Save the Children.

More than £35 million has been raised for youngsters since it began in 2012..

And last year, more than £5 million was raised.

Partakers are encouraged to donate £2 to Save the Children, or £1 if you are at school.

All you have to do to celebrate is wear a Christmas jumper.

It does not have to be new, so you can dig out last year’s, customise your own or get one from a charity shop.

Christmas Jumper Day is popular with schools and workplaces, and some people take part in additional fundraising activities on the day.

Celebrities have even backed the campaign, with Kate Moss, Helen Mirren and Luke Evans among some of the stars to wear a festive sweater.

All donations made to Christmas Jumper Day between December 1 last year and March 1 this year were doubled, up to £2m, thanks to the UK government aid match funding.

Save the Children’s website reads: “There is more to Christmas Jumper Day than wearing a silly jumper.

“You will be helping children facing serious issues like war, hunger and poverty.

“And this year, with so many children having a really tough time, getting involved matters more than ever.”
