Kent Cricket Club and Yorkshire play out an LV= County Championship draw

Kent’s first home LV County Championship match of the season ended in a draw against Yorkshire on Saturday.

After Kent won the toss and elected to bat, all-rounder Darren Stevens provided the highlight of their first innings with a knock of 92 from 125 balls.

Yorkshire’s Tim Bresnan (5-52) helped himself to a five-wicket haul as Kent put together a first innings total of 317 all out.

In reply, Yorkshire were all out for 283 with Jonathan Bairstow contributing 70 and Adil Rashid 59, with the pair adding 126 for the seventh wicket.

Azhar Mahmood with 4-58 and Amjad Khan 3-60 enjoyed the most success with the ball for Kent.

A 113-run seventh wicket partnership from James Hockey and James Tredwell saw Kent frustrate Yorkshire in their second innings.

Hockey hit 82, while Tredwell remained unbeaten on 72 as Kent declared on 357-8.

Earlier, there has been half centuries for Geraint Jones (53) and Martin van Jaarsveld (78).

Yorkshire were left needing 392 from their second innings to win and got off to a good start when Adam Lyth (84) and Joe Sayers (61) had an opening partnership of 155.

The pair fell in successive overs, but the runs continued to flow as they were followed to the crease by Bresnan (70) and Anthony McGrath (55) who put together a 123 run third wicket stand.

James Tredwell took 3-69 as Yorkshire reached 300-5.
