Kent may well have taken a battering overnight as torrential rain and thunderstorms swept across the county - but these stunning photos totally make it worth it.

The Met Office predicted storms would hit the south east last night, and sure enough the rain set in late with lightning making for awesome sights.

A yellow warning from the Met Office for thunderstorms is in force until 9pm, having been in place since 6pm yesterday, with rain predicted across Kent throughout the day.

Forecasters say there could be disruption to travel and possible flooding.

The Met Office warns further thunderstorms are heading towards Kent, with some downpours likely.

It comes a week after parts of the county witnessed the worst flooding seen in 30 years as Snodland and Birling residents were faced with water streaming down roads and into their homes.

A month's worth of rain fell on Monday, June 10, causing treacherous conditions on roads and motorways and a leisure centre also faces a £10,000 clean-up bill after water poured through the roof.
