A man has been arrested following a sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl in Boots at London Victoria station.

The 31-year-old from Sevenoaks was taken into custody today following a CCTV appeal by the British Transport Police, posted following Saturday's incident.

He was arrested at his home address and is now being questioned over the alleged assault.

BTP has been asked for more information.

Detective Constable Tony Gittins of the BTP described the attack as “particularly disturbing" given the age of the victim.

A spokesman for the force said today: "Thank you to everyone who shared our CCTV appeal yesterday following a sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl at London Victoria.

"As a result of your help, a 31-year-old man has been arrested this morning at his home address in Kent and taken into custody for questioning."

A spokesman confirmed the suspect has been released on bail until July 12 pending further inquiries.
