Kent MPs have sent best wishes to Boris Johnson and are willing him to fight through after the PM was taken into intensive care.

The 55-year-old was last night moved on the advice of his medical team as his coronavirus symptoms "worsened".

A campaign to show support by clapping for the Prime Minister tonight at 8pm has since been set up and gained almost 50,000 supporters.

Mr Johnson tested positive for the virus 12 days ago. Many cases make a recovery after about 10 days, however, the PM's condition has worsened.

Kent MPs took to Twitter last night for show their support for country's leader.

Sir Roger Gale MP says the nation "must come to together to pray for Mr Johnson, his family and especially his fiancee Carrie".

Tom Tugendhat MP wished "God's strength" for the PM and said he was deeply touched by the kind messages sent to him in support for Mr Johnson.

A statement from No 10 reads: "The Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas' Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.

"Over the course of the afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital."

On Saturday Mr Johnson's pregnant fiancee Carrie Symonds also confirmed she had suffered minor symptoms but was now through the worst of it.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the PM's 'designated survivor', will take over running the country.

The number of Covid-19 cases in the UK now stands at more than 51,000.
