Joe Denly says Kent Spitfires will use their success in Twenty20 cricket to enhance their reputation as one of the big performers in the shortest form of the game.

Last night’s (Wednesday) Friends Provident t20 victory against Essex Eagles at Chelmsford is followed by tonight’s trip to Hampshire Hawks, before facing holders Sussex Sharks in front of an expected 5,000 full house at The Nevill Ground in Tunbridge Wells next Wednesday.

Denly said: "It has come at a good time for me personally and the team. We probably didn’t start the season the way we wanted to in one-day and four-day cricket but are quite confident as a side of drawing on our experiences in the competition over the last three years."

Kent have reinvented themselves as a major force in the competition and Denly feels they have learned a lot along the way.

He added: "Rob Key is a good thinker about the game and we work on various plans for every team, batsman and bowler. One of the things that has improved greatly is our fielding. The year we won it (2007), it was the reason nine times out of 10 why we won games."

Denly also hopes to rediscover his own form after a disappointing campaign with the bat to date.

He added: "I have been working hard in the nets and will be looking to play with a bit more freedom and confidence and relax more."

The county are hoping for good weather and big crowds this week for the visit of LV= County Championship Division 1 leaders Nottinghamshire when Tunbridge Wells Festival Week starts on Friday.
