Thirteen year old drummer Kieran Gaffney narrowly missed out on winning Britain's Got Talent.

The youngster, from Deal, came third.

The 13-year-old Walmer Science College pupil wowed judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden in the auditions.

Speaking before Saturday's final, Kieran's dad, Sean Gaffney, said: "He has been really excited but he just wants to get up there and do it now.

"He seems really nervous and jumpy but instead of buckling under the pressure, it goes the other way with him, he gets up there and loses himself in it."

After learning the drums 18 months ago when his dad bought him an electric drumming kit, Kieran first hit the headlines after performing in last year's Britain's Got Talent.

Unfortunately he failed to secure a place in the semi-finals in that contest.

All three judges were unanimous in their decision that this year he deserved a place among the 40 hopefuls in the live stages of the 2010 competition.

Kieran plays drums around the pubs in Deal in his parents' band, Mixed Emotions. Many supporters watched the live final in pubs around the town.
