Family and friends of businessman David O’Leary, who was gunned down at his home last month, have gathered together for his funeral.

A horse-drawn hearse carried Mr O’Leary’s coffin from his house in Valley Road, Lydden, to St Augustine’s Abbey in Ramsgate on Wednesday, where mourners had packed out the church to pay their final respects.

A reception was held immediately after the service at The Pavilion, Broadstairs.

Around a dozen floral tributes were left outside the church. One, from Mr O’Leary’s three children, read: “Miss you daddy, all our love”. Another, a wreath which spelled out the word ‘brother’, read: “You was a brother, a friend, and a good man. You join mum in a much better place than you have left”.
