Here is your weekly round-up of who has appeared in Kent's courts this week - featuring hoax callers, drink-drivers and a gun thief.

Ashford motorist banned

Jaroslaw Konieczny, of Matfield Close, Ashford, drove a Fiat Punto in Moatfield Meadow, Ashford, and gave a breath test of 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 50-year-old from driving for 18 months. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Dover man given curfew

Kevin Jackson Harris, of London Road, Dover, drove an Audi A4 in High Street, Dover, with no insurance and while unfit through drugs. He gave a blood test of five microgrammes of THC acid (cannabis) per litre of blood. The threshold limit for cannabis is two microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 54-year-old from driving for two years and gave him a ten-week curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 6am daily. The curfew runs until 31 October 2017. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Motorist banned for drink driving

Duncan Bishop, of Nightingale Road, Dover, drove a Ford Focus in Douglas Road, Deal, and gave a breath test of 79 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 35-year-old from driving for 18 months and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Thanet man stole washing products and chocolate

Terry Steven Thurling, of Arklow Square, Ramsgate, stole washing detergents and chocolate worth £75.50 from a shop in Hereson Road, Ramsgate.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 90 days in prison. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Folkestone woman guilty of drink driving

Kathryn Findlay, of Julian Road, Folkestone, drove an Audi A3 in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, and gave a breath test of 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 64-year-old from driving for 18 months. She must also pay a £576 fine, £85 costs and a £57 victim surcharge.

Prison for bomb threat hoaxer

Francisco Xavier Gomez, of Dover Road, Folkestone, made hoax bomb threats to the police using the 999 emergency telephone system.

Magistrates sentenced the 48-year-old to 15 weeks in prison. He must also pay £230 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ramsgate woman avoids jail for wasting police time

Charlotte Jaquiline Walkinshaw, of Lancaster Close, Ramsgate, caused wasteful employment of police by making false 999 calls.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. She must also pay £200 compensation.

Unpaid work for man who resisted arrest after assault

Paul Robert Harvey, of no fixed address, assaulted a man and a woman and resisted a police officer at an address in Canterbury Road, Charing.

Magistrates ordered the 40-year-old to carry out 270 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £200 compensation, £620 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Ashford resident stole guns from garage

Brian Peter Gibbons, of Albemarle Road, Ashford, broke into a garage in Marsh Road, Ashford, stole two battery impact guns worth £1,080 and assaulted a man.

He also failed to surrender to bail at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse on another date.

Magistrates sentenced the 37-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for 12 months. He must also pay £300 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Prison for thief

Douglas Michael Frankham, of no fixed address, stole two bottles of cider worth £7.98 from a shop in High Street, Sheerness.

He also failed to surrender to bail at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to seven days in prison. Because the offences were committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence, the overall length of his sentence is 134 days.

Shoplifter from Dartford jailed

Miachel David McCartney, of Olive Road, Dartford, stole an electric toothbrush worth £280 from a shop in High Street, Dartford, took groceries worth £62.34 from a shop in Watchgate, Dartford, as well as meat worth £25.13 from the same shop.

Magistrates sentenced the 25-year-old to 26 weeks in prison. Because the offences were committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence, the overall length of his sentence is 34 weeks. He must also pay £1,145 compensation and £85 costs.

Dartford man took hundreds of pounds worth of chocolate

Jamie Lee Hopkins, of Browning Road, Dartford, stole chocolate worth £21 from a shop in Chastilian Road, Dartford and he stole deodorants worth £65 from a shop in The Orchards, Dartford.

As well as this he stole chocolate worth £70 from the same shop and more chocolate worth £100 from a shop in Henderson Drive, Dartford.

Magistrates sentenced the 33-year-old to 240 days in prison, suspended for a year, and gave him a three-month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily. The curfew runs until 24 November 2017. He must also pay £226 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Disqualified driver caught driving while on drugs

Billy Joe McDermott, of Walnut Way, Southborough, drove a LDV Maxus van in Powdermill Lane, Tunbridge Wells, while disqualified and with no insurance. He also gave a blood test of five microgrammes of cannabis per litre of blood. The threshold limit is two microgrammes.

Magistrates sentenced the 26-year-old to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, banned him from driving for 18 months and ordered him to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
