Among the people who have appeared in Kent's courts recently include disqualified drivers and a shoplifter with a penchant for alcohol and crisps.
Sandwich man guilty of drink driving
Michael Wilcocks, of Beacon Lane, Sandwich, drove a Mercedes Vito in Chaucer Road, Canterbury, while disqualified and gave a breath test of 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates sentenced the 58-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, banned him from driving for 36 months and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
Razor thief strikes in Dover
Steven Bull, of no fixed address, stole razor blades worth £260 from a supermarket in Charlton Green, Dover.
Magistrates sentenced the 42-year-old to 100 days in prison. He must also pay £130 compensation.
Hawkinge man answers drink drive charge
Kevin Alan Searle, of Proctor Walk, Hawkinge, drove an Audi TT in Proctor Walk, while disqualified and gave a breath test of 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates sentenced the 42-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, banned him from driving for three years, ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and gave him a six-week curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 6am daily. The curfew runs until 12 September 2017. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Man who took steak gets suspended sentence
Peter Charles Luckhurst, of Edgar Road, Dover, stole steaks worth £8 from a supermarket in Charlton Green, Dover.
Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to 28 days in prison, suspended for 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Dangerous driver avoids jail
George Alan Welford, of View Road, Rochester, drove a Mercedes E250 in Tram Road, Folkestone, dangerously, otherwise than in accordance with a licence and with no insurance. He also failed to stop the vehicle when required to do so by a police officer and failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.
Magistrates sentenced the 49-year-old to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, banned him from driving for three years and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Biddenden man took cash and scratch cards
David Anthony Burns, of Hareplain Road, Biddenden, stole cash worth £2,357 and scratch cards worth £330 from a service station in Ashford Road, Tenterden, where he was employed.
Magistrates ordered the 30-year-old to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £2,678 compensation.
Driver was over the limit
Adam Press, of Albert Street, Whitstable, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Horsebridge Road, Whitstable, and gave a breath test of 109 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 34-year-old from driving for 26 months and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
Meat, alcohol and crisps taken by Margate thief
Mark David Bird, of Lewis Crescent, Margate, stole alcohol and crisps worth £440.29 from a shop in Westwood Retail Park, Broadstairs.
He also stole meat worth £157.14 and assaulted a man at a supermarket in Margate Road, Broadstairs.
Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 16 weeks in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Thanet man answers driving charge
Connor Clapton, of Summerfield Road, Margate, drove an Audi S3 in St Peter’s Park Road, Broadstairs, and gave a breath test of 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 23-year-old from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
Sheppey man failed to give breath test
Joshua Thomas Jonathan Moore, of Sea View Gardens, Sheerness, failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in Queenborough.
He also had a kitchen knife in his possession in Queenborough Road, Queenborough.
Magistrates banned the 20-year-old from driving for 20 months and gave him a curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 5.30am daily until 13 October 2017. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
Medway resident stole protein
Wayne Tyrone Stark, of Grange Hill, Chatham, stole four bags of whey protein worth £160 from a shop in High Street, Chatham.
He also stole three bags of whey protein worth £120 from a shop in High Street, Gillingham and failed to answer to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.
Magistrates sentenced the 41-year-old to 150 days in prison. He must also pay a £50 fine, £280 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Chatham resident on drink driving charge
Navdeep Bali, of Snodhurst Avenue, Chatham, drove a Ford Focus in Pattens Lane, Rochester, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 47-year-old from driving for 24 months and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
Land Rover driver in court
Paul Albert Gurney, of Station Road, Meopham, drove a Land Rover Discovery in The Parade, Meopham, and gave a blood test of 248 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.
Magistrates banned the 64-year-old from driving for 25 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Alexandru Buruncenco, of Victoria Street, Gillingham, drove a Renault Scenic in Rock Avenue, Gillingham, and gave a breath test of 92 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 34-year-old from driving for 24 months and gave him a three-month curfew to remain at home between 9.30pm and 4.30am daily. The curfew runs until 31 October 2017. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Scott Morgan, of Farley Close, Chatham, drove a Ford Focus in Lordswood Lane, Chatham, and gave a breath test of 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 44-year-old from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £450 fine, £85 costs and a £45 victim surcharge.
Gravesend resident tried to rob man
Lee Oliver Finnis, of Windmill Street, Gravesend, attempted to rob a man of money in Windmill Street.
Magistrates sentenced the 37-year-old to 28 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Man drove with no insurance
Gregg Huggett, of Camden Close, Northfleet, drove a BMW in London Road, Greenhithe, with no insurance.
He also drove a BMW 3 Series in Camden Close, while disqualified, with no insurance and failed to stop the vehicle when directed to do so by a police officer. He gave a blood test of 2.8 microgrammes of cannabis and 129 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood. The threshold limits are two microgrammes and 50 microgrammes respectively. He also had a quantity of cocaine in his possession.
Magistrates sentenced the 26-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 24 months, banned him from driving for 36 months and ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay a £660 fine, £170 costs and a £211 victim surcharge.
Northfleet resident answered driving charges
Alan Gary Sutton, of Seymour Road, Northfleet, drove a Fiat Punto in Rochester Road, Gravesend, otherwise than in accordance with a licence, without a valid vehicle licence and with no insurance or test certificate. He also gave a blood test of 660 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine, 2.1 microgrammes of cannabis and 23 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood. The threshold limits are 50 microgrammes, two microgrammes and 10 microgrammes respectively.
He also failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.
Magistrates sentenced the 25-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for two years, and banned him from driving for three years. He must also pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Man on assault charge
Valentins Celpanovs, of Wrotham Road, Gravesend, assaulted a man in Wrotham Road, causing him actual bodily harm.
Magistrates sentenced the 31-year-old to 150 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered him to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £750 compensation, £250 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Minster driver over the limit
Jason Anthony Soper, of Nettle Way, Minster on Sea, drove a Fiat in Elm Lane, Minster on Sea, and gave a breath test of 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 30-year-old from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £500 fine, £85 costs and a £50 victim surcharge.
Chatham man damaged property
Thomas Lennord Beaney, of Dale Street, Chatham, damaged a door panel worth an unknown amount at a library in Central Avenue, Sittingbourne, and assaulted a man in The Forum Shopping Centre, Sittingbourne.
He also failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse and attempted to steal alcohol worth £5 and used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at a supermarket in Old Dover Road, Canterbury.
Magistrates sentence the 19-year-old to 70 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Suspended sentence for woman who had a knife
Adejoke Aderoba, of Teal Drive, Chatham, had a knife in her possession in Teal Drive.
Magistrates sentenced the 45-year-old to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered her to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. She must also pay £86 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Jail for hoax caller
Paul Anthony Davies, of Frindsbury Road, Rochester, used a telephone kiosk in High Street, Chatham, to make hoax calls to the emergency services.
Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to 42 days in prison.
Eastchurch resident was over the limit
Bystrik Gardos, of an unknown address, drove a Skoda Octavia in Leysdown Road, Eastchurch, and gave a breath test of 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned the 39-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £225 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
