Team GB trampolinist Kat Driscoll says she feels confident ahead of her Olympic debut this afternoon.

The Walderslade-born star - formerly of Lordswood Leapers and Gillingham Jumpers - will take to the trampoline at 2pm to try and become the first British woman to reach an Olympic final.

The former Rochester Grammar School for Girls pupil - now based in the north east - earned the single GB place at these Games with a superb performance at last year's World Championships, making the final.

The 26-year-old is up against tough opposition in the form of China's reigning Olympic champion He Wenna, Beijing silver-medallist Karen Cockburn of Canada, world champion Rosannagh MacLennan and former bronze medallist Ekaterina Khilko of Uzbekistan.

However she revealed: "My training has been pretty good and I've been enjoying my time here and I'm feeling pretty calm.

"It's just about going out on Saturday and delivering two good routines in prelims which will then qualify you for a final.

"In trampolining it then goes back to zero so it's a completely new start.

"That means it's anyone's game as everyone starts afresh and anything can happen."

Driscoll, who was ranked No1 in the world in both the individual and synchronised disciplines last year, said she would like to see the synchro event introduced at a future Games.

She said: "It would be amazing to get synchro in. Great Britain are a really strong nation. We have been for years and years so it would be nice to get that to be part of it and let people see more about what trampolining is and what we have to offer."
