The weekend has started with a £1,000 win for one lucky kmfm listener.

Megan Pankhurst, from Bearsted, near Maidstone, entered the Kent radio station's monthly £1,000 Friday competition earlier today.

Following thousands of text and online entries, one listener is chosen at random and given a surprise phone call.

Rob Wills, kmfm presenter, made the call to Megan during Drivetime at 6pm.

The delighted winner said she was about to go and pick her boyfriend up and take him to the pub to watch England play the United States in the World Cup.

Asked what she would spend her winnings on, she said "a nice Christmas for all of my family".

Straight after calling Megan, Rob surprised listeners by announcing that next week there will be a Cash for Christmas competition, with a whopping £2,000 prize to win to have Christmas all wrapped up.
