Man and elderly woman injured in car crash

The air ambulance airlifted an 80-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man to hospital on Sunday after a serious crash on the A2070 near Brenzett.

The accident, involving one vehicle - a black VW Golf - happened just before 11am near the Ivychurch turning.

Three people were in the car and had to be cut free by fire crews from Lydd, New Romney and Ashford.

The elderly woman, who was a passenger, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with non-life threatening leg injuries.

One man was airlifted to hospital and a second man was treated for a medical condition.

The road was closed until 12.40pm.
