A THIRD man who was arrested in connection with the discovery of a cannabis-growing farm at a warehouse on a Kent industrial site has been released on bail.

The 59-year-old Ramsgate man was questioned on suspicion of conspiring to manufacture drugs at the premises on Whitehall Road in the town.

He has been bailed until July 20, pending a Crown Prosecution decision to prosecute.

Two other men, aged 19 and 49, are also on bail while officers conduct further investigations. They are due to return to Margate police station on July 20.

During a raid on Monday, May 8, police found about 5,000 plants growing in the building, utilising a sophisticated hydroponics system. There was a capacity to grow 7,000.

After the raid Det Insp Nick Greenan said: "This is the largest plantation of cannabis ever uncovered in Thanet. It is a well set-up operation, with lights, an irrigation system, nurseries and several rooms with plants in various stages of growth."

He stressed: "The factory had the potential to produce millions of pounds of drugs."
